Plan Review

Plan reviews range from complex development plans to any proposed fire protection system. Fire inspectors will confirm that the proposed construction follows the Fire Code and certify (review and approve) the plans. These certifications protect public safety in the City of Rio Rancho and directly affect several businesses, industry professionals, storage, and residential businesses. Below is a step-by-step guide to our plan review process.

Fire 1 Plan

Fire 2 Plan

Step 1: Submit a Fire 1 plan to both the FMO division and the permits division. This will allow your plans to be assigned a permit number for tracking purposes within the plan review process. Once approved by the FMO division you can move to step 2.

Step 2: Submit a Fire 2 plan along with the approved Fire 1 to both the FMO division and permits division. Fire 2 plans will be part of the entire plan set and need to be marked on their page within the plan set. Once approved by FMO you can start your construction. At this point, you can also submit any deferred submittals if they are required for your project.

Deferred Submittals

Any project that requires a deferred submittal will require a plan review for each type. The plan review process is listed below.

Step 3: Step 3: Submit plans to the permits division for a permit number. They will then be sent to FMO for review and approval. Each type of deferred submittal will require a separate permit number.

Step 4: Each type of deferred submittal will require an inspection either throughout the construction phase or during the final inspection.
