Community Engagement

The Rio Rancho Police Department prides itself on maintaining a strong relationship with our community. Our community engagement efforts such as Coffee with A Cop, Public Information Exchanges, Citizen’s Police Academy, and other programs, help us maintain a strong dialogue with our community so that we can respond to the public safety and quality of life needs of the City of Rio Rancho.

Coffee with a Cop

Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together–over coffee–to discuss issues and learn more about each other. The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve.

Citizens' Police Academy

The goal of the Citizens' Police Academy is to keep the Rio Rancho Police Department connected with our community. The academy will offer citizens a greater understanding of all of the services and programs that the Rio Rancho Police Department offers. Our presenters are officers from different divisions across our agency that are out in the community every day providing the great service that we strive for. As citizens learn about our police department, they will have an opportunity to learn more about the people behind the badge, who we are, and what motivates us. Learn more here

Public Information Exchange (PIE)

Public Information Exchanges foster the development of crime prevention programs, in order to keep our neighborhoods, families and businesses safe from crime and secure from all threats.

Our goal is to improve the quality of life for our citizens, by encouraging citizens to be good neighbors and assisting the Police Department in identifying the criminal elements who prey upon society.

The Department would like to provide and will be offering a variety of educational and training opportunities to the citizens we serve, establishing a social gathering location for connecting and communicating. We will also strive to provide transparency to the general public. By partnering together, crime can be prevented or reduced and the overall quality of life can be improved.
