Current Road Work

This page contains information on lane restrictions that may be present during road construction in the City of Rio Rancho. Information will be updated on this page as it becomes available. Motorists traveling within construction zones are urged to drive with caution and observe traffic control devices. Remember to always wear your seat belt and drive the speed limit.
Current Projects:
Click on the link above to view all current projects that are in design, right-of-way acquisition, construction, or those by other Government Agencies that are occurring within Rio Rancho City Limits.
Neighborhood Streets Improvement Project:
Work for the Neighborhood Streets Improvement Project will be typically from 7:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and weekends and evening hours as needed. Please click on the project title for estimate starting dates for crack patching and crack sealing on specific roads.
NM 550 Phase 2 Project:
Work for the NM 550 Phase 2 Project will begin October 28, 2019 - June 2021.  This project is managed by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT).  For more information on the project, please click the title above or go to www.keepmoving550.com.
Southern Boulevard Phase 1 Project:
Work for the Southern Boulevard Phase 1 Project from NM 528 to Golf Course Road will be from September 24, 2018 - December 2019.  During construction the speed limit will be reduced to 30 mph.
  • Effective May 15, 2019: Traffic has transitioned from the south side to the north side of the newly constructed Southern Boulevard between NM 528 and Golf Course Road. The roadway lane configuration remains similar with one lane in each direction (east and west) and a left turn lane. Please pay attention to traffic control devices and signing to maneuver through the configuration.
  • Effective October 28, 2019 - November 4, 2019:  Eastbound traffic on Southern Boulevard will be shifted to the inside lane from Country Club Drive to NM 528. The eastbound, outside lane on Southern Boulevard will be closed during this time.
