Interlibrary Loans
What is an interlibrary loan (ILL)?
An ILL is the borrowing of an item from a library outside of the Rio Rancho Public Libraries. A request to search for the item elsewhere can be made using an Interlibrary Loan Request form. You do not need to know which library owns an item in order to use this service.

How can I request an item through interlibrary loan?
You will need to complete an Interlibrary Loan Request form for each item that you seek. A fee of $1.50 will be charged at the time of check out of the loaned item to cover cost of postage.  You can pick up the Interlibrary Loan Request form from the reference desks or, submit it online here: Interlibrary loan request

How long does the item take to arrive once it is requested?
In most cases an item arrives within three weeks. Items can be picked up at the circulation desk.

How long can I keep an item?
The terms of borrowing are determined by the lending library. Often the items can be renewed.

What do I do when I am finished with an item?
Return items to the Loma Colorado or Esther Bone Reference or Circulation staff.

How can I research items?
You can research items using Worldcat. Please keep in mind items in Worldcat are not always available for lending. We will notify you if an item cannot be borrowed.

Who do I contact for more information?
