Community Read: The River by Peter Heller
Why have a community read?
A community read is a great way to bring people in the community together, not only avid readers but also those whose busy lives don’t permit much reading. It provides a platform for discussions and a comfortable way to open up a dialog between neighbors and others in the community. Our choice for the Community Read is The River by Peter Heller. We believe this is a book that will appeal to a wide variety of people. The River is the story of two college friends on what they thought would be a leisurely canoe trip down a Canadian river. The unexpected challenges they face on this wilderness trip will test their friendship, their survival skills, and their humanity.
30 copies of this book are available at Rio Rancho Public Libraries on a first come first serve basis. They are not library books. We encourage people to either share it with someone else or to return it to the library when they are done with it, so that we can give it to another patron. Other copies will be available to check out, including large print, ebooks, and audiobooks.
