Acting City Manager John Craig provided the Recommended Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) Budget for municipal government operations and services and the Capital Program (FY20-25) to the Mayor and City Council on April 15, 2019. The FY20 Budget spans from July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020.
Per the City’s Charter, the Mayor of Rio Rancho had until April 25 to review the recommended budget and capital program and submit written comments to the city manager.
The Recommended FY20 Budget and Capital Program was reviewed by the Governing Body (Mayor and City Council) at a budget hearing on Tuesday, April 30. The budget hearing took place at Rio Rancho City Hall, 3200 Civic Center Circle. The budget hearing was open to the public, can be viewed on the City’s website, and was broadcast on the City’s Rio Vision government cable channel 56, which is available to Rio Rancho Cable One subscribers.
The Governing Body took public comment on the FY20 Recommended Budget and capital program during its regular monthly meetings on May 8 and May 22 at 6 p.m. at Rio Rancho City Hall. A vote to adopt a budget for FY20 and capital program took place at the Governing Body’s May 22 meeting.
The budget approved by the Governing Body at its May 22 meeting (a balanced budget) must be submitted to the State of New Mexico by June 1, 2019. On July 24 at its regular meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall, the Governing Body will vote to adopt a final budget for FY20, which will be submitted to the State of New Mexico.
